Mother's Day weekend promised weather that is practically unheard of in May, with temperatures approaching 80 F and clear clear skies, we knew we had to get out and do -something-! And given that a significant amount of mileage isn't really possible anymore without me waddling like ridiculous, I found a couple places that promised nice views, flat trails and minimal lengths.
Between the two parks we did I think we ended up doing about 5 miles in total, so not too shabby, and it was perfect weather. More to come once photos are uploaded!
We followed a bit of a meandering path, mainly along the river in Rasar State Park. The going was nice and flat with peeking views of nearby peaks.
See? I'm pregnant and still hiking-ish.
Eric and our friend Dan enjoyed skipping stones into the river. I got to sit in the sun. It was glorious. I even saw a bald eagle!
Our path back took us through this gorgeous field of grass. It was SO warm!

I almost wish we had passed Rockport by. The park was closed to campers due to some diseased trees that made camping far too risky. We did a loop and it really wasn't all that exciting.

Our drive back home on the Mountain Loop Highway was far pretty, with mountain peaks still snowcovered popping out here and there.
