Nice weather today so I've picked a view hike! See you later!
As it would turn out, I was a dork and didn't realize we were going back precisely where we had been last week! This amused me, though we were going to a completely opposite portion of the park area. Rattlesnake ledge is a relatively quick hike with awesome rewards not even near the summit!
Rattlesnake Ledge
And the lake
We were amused at the incorrect distances listed on the signs. It made for fun times. We just ignored them.
You start out by skirting the lake edge in what is the most level portion of the hike. You can, in fact, hike around the lake, but we chose to head to the ledge. We were also accompanied by our second houseguest, someone who I will refer to as Oph.
I love moss covered boulders. This hike was considerably 'drier' and the forest was not as heavily mossed as others we've been on.
Someone wrote my name into moss!
Eric being a goof.
We stopped for a breather on one of the many benches lining the trail. Once you start your switchback climb it just doesn't stop. But I did find the slope slightly forgiving.
We had some nice views! Even before the top!
I heard that continuing on to the summit is even harder than getting to the ledge. One day!
Views from the ledge were still rewarding!
Beware the huge crack in the ledge!
But enjoy the views. :D
We made it!
Going back down was super quick and we had some fun taking pictures by the lake.
